Eoghan Rua from Coleraine claimed their first ever All Ireland Football 7s Title at the prestigious Kilmacud Crokes tournament sponsored by VW. Trailing by 1 point at the break the talented Derry side used their composed and direct running style to convert two decisive scores in the last 3mins. First a well worked team goal scored by Colm McGoldrick on 17mins to push his team in front and then with less than 2mins remaining Ciaran Lagan finished with aplomb to the top corner after good work by Ciaran McGoldrick to seal victory. Eoghan Rua performed consistently throughout the tournament and carried their fine form into the final, which saw hosts Kilmacud Crokes loose out to Ulster opposition in the final for the second successive year.
The Ulster men progressed through the knockout stages by overcoming a talented Oliver Plunketts side in the Quarter-Finals on a score line of 6-06 v 2-11. Eoghan Rua continued their impressive goal scoring in the semi-final, converting 5-10 against fellow Derry side Ballinderry to reach their first ever All Ireland Football 7s Final.
Eoghan Rua's final opponents had to dig deep against a spirited Antrim team, Roger Casement's from Portglenone to eventually win by 4-points. The hosts went on to get the better of skilful Galway club Salthill in the semi-finals with some impressive counter-attacking to win 2-06 v 0-09.
During the knockout stages of the tournament Performa Sports analysed key game events and individual player performances by live tagging on its iPad app. The analysis and coaching iPad app also fed live data to its integrated cloud analytics platform. This was then quickly linked with match videos to easily create video analysis and player performance profiles.
Congratulations to Eoghan Rua, the VW All Ireland Club Football 7s Champions who also won a Performa Sports performance analysis and coaching software license. Performa Sports' Head of Marketing & Education Joe Turley presented the GAA analysis iPad app to the winning management and captain Barry McGoldrick.
