Performa Sports Supports Hockey Ireland

How did you spend your May Day bank holiday weekend?

At Performa Sports it was spent in Dublin, at Three Rock Rovers HC, supporting Hockey Ireland’s premier and penultimate competition, the EYHL Champions Trophy. The top 4 teams from the Mens and Ladies IHL league came together to battle it out for Ireland’s place in Europe next season and Performa Sports were on hand to support those competing.

From the ladies semi finals Loreto HC produced the shock result, knocking out league and cup champions UCD. In the other semi final, it took penalty run ins to separate Pegasus and Cork Harlequins, with the Munster side emerging victorious and earn themselves a spot in Sundays final.

In the men’s competition there was more late drama with Three Rock Rovers overcoming Lisnagarvey HC, converting a penalty corner following the hooter. The fast flicking Luke Madeley firing home when it mattered most. League Champions, Glennane, booked themselves in to face Rovers in Sunday’s Final by overcoming Pembroke Wanderers by 3–0, Shannon Boucher and Shane O’Donoghue (2) the scorers.

Throughout the weekend Performa Sports provided performance analysis including live pitchside statistics to live video tagging. Each game was filmed and tagged by our analyst team, uploaded to our cloud based software for teams to reflect upon post match.

Sundays finals again proved the dramatic nature sport. The ladies final seen Cork Harlequins leading from the 1st quarter when Michelle Barry struck to give them the halftime advantage. However, mid way through the 3rd Quarter Loreto struck twice to take the lead and went on to see the game out with their defence proving resolute. The final game of the day produced yet more drama. A full blooded encounter with both sides pushing hard for the win. Three Rock took a 1–0 lead into halftime, only for Glennane to reduce it to honours even shortly after. Both goals from short corners. In the final 48 seconds, Jody Hosking, showed poachers instinct to follow in what looked like a goal bound effort from Harry Morris. The shot hit the post and bounced straight onto Hosking’s stick and he made no mistake from close range. Dramatic celebrations followed in front of a bubbling home crowd.
